Kathe Welch

Kathe grew up in California’s Central Valley. From an early age she could be found drawing things she saw in her neighborhood and things she imagined might exist. She wrote stories to accompany her drawings and created little books for her family.

Kathe is currently working on several wood-cut projects and paintings and has recently completed The Last Monkey - a story about the fear of falling off the edge of the bed.

Kathe is the co-founder of Four Oceans Press and she has taught Art, Ceramics, Graphic Design and Photography to over 3000 middle and high school students. She lives on a farm in western Oregon.
