Jessica Wilson

Jessica M. Wilson is a Navajo Indian Poet from East Los Angeles, CA. She has an MFA in Writing from Otis College of Art and Design and a BA in Creative Writing and Art History from University of California, Riverside. Jessica is the Founder of the Los Angeles Poet Society, which she began in 2009 as an answer to bring the LA literary 'scene' into light - so there would be transparency between Poets and Poetry Venues, Publishers, Musicians and Artists and all creatives. To bring the community together, she is Founder and Host of the Literary Series: Writers' Row - the Downtown ArtWalk's Showcase of the Written Art, Writer Wednesday, SoapBox Poets Open Mic, Gallery 19, and the Salon @ NoHo.

She currently collaborates and hosts at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center, home of the Venice West Beats, in Venice Beach, CA, and also at Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural, founded by LA's Poet LAureate, Luis J. Jessica is a Poet Teacher with California Poets in the Schools, and believes in the power of the word! She is 100 Thousand Poets for Change and Revolutionary Poets Brigade in Los Angeles! She is a Beat Poet and dedicates her words to the freedom of Mohammad ibn Al Ajami, Ashraf Fayadh, and other humans being repressed and denied the right to speak their truth.

Her new book of poetry, "Serious Longing", made its debut in 2015 as the 1st English language book of poetry from Swan World Press, long time publisher Editions du Cygne's English imprint, from Paris, France.
