Paul Costello was born in Liverpool in 1960. He started playing Double Bass when he was twelve, and soon after taught himself Bass Guitar, and Guitar.
After completing a Diploma in Jazz, and Classical Guitar in 1984 he quickly established himself as a professional musician and guitar tutor. Paul has since performed his own music in the UK and in Europe. He has played at festivals, arts venues, on BBC radio, and recorded four albums. ('Snaizeholme', 'Solo Six and Seven String Guitar', 'Living Music' and Solo Acoustic Guitar'.)
Paul has organized and managed several publicly funded projects, including 'Living Music'- a musicians collective that has brought together musicians from Israel, India, the USA, and Europe, who have a passion for improvised music, to record and perform.
He has taught guitar to hundreds of private students, given numerous group workshops, and has worked as both an instrumental tutor, in secondary schools, and as a college lecturer.
Paul is the author of 'Improvisation for Classical, Fingerstyle, and Jazz Guitar - Creative Strategies, Technique and Theory.'
Current work includes: 'The Freedom Project', - an innovative collaboration with electric guitarist John Loughran; a new recording of solo guitar compositions/improvisations; and a second book, aimed at professional teachers, on how to teach the guitar.
