Kenneth Byrd

Kenneth Byrd is an author, a business executive, and the co-founder of Curl Centric, a website about curly, coily, kinky, and wavy hair care. He runs the business, checks the research behind its guides, and builds its free tools.

Kenneth Byrd was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1980 and grew up in nearby McCalla. He lives in central Alabama. For several years he wrote freelance for the Birmingham News, the Birmingham Post-Herald, and a range of websites.

His first book was Going Natural: The Blueprint to Starting Your Natural Hair Journey. He has also written books for Kindle and Nook. With his wife, Akirashanti Byrd, he co-wrote The Big Curly Kids Coloring and Activity Book.

He and Akirashanti started Curl Centric in 2008, and he is its managing partner. When he isn't working, he spends time with his family, follows his favorite sports teams, and reads.
