Donald Towey

Donald's experience of the construction industry spans three decades and involves contract administration, estimating and quantity surveying which has provided golden opportunities to be involved with exciting projects in the United Kingdom, Australia and Middle East. He comments, "The experience gained from both the contractor and client's perspectives has provided me with a broad view of construction processes, which can only be effective with strong commercial input." Armed with this knowledge, his first book entitled "A Practical Guide for the Contractor's QS" is written from a contractor's perspective dealing with building measurement, the contractor's business activities, project initiation and strategies for successfully running and completing a project. A 2nd Edition expands on the subject to include strategies for maximizing the "New Rules" NRM2 measurement techniques as well as an insight into the working practices of the UK's JCT suite of contracts. For the client side, the publication "Cost Management of Construction Projects" addresses cost and commercial management from a client's perspective. This compliments Donald's holistic view, as it combines viewpoints from both the contractor's and client's perspectives giving readers an insight into full commercial activities of construction projects.
