Alesia Matson

President, contributing author for Metaphor Publications, Inc.

Living in northern California with MacDuff and Anniel (the adorable dogs), and Libby the Adorable (cat). Co-author of several books with the multi-talented Michael Matson, who's not only the other 2/3rds of the BoD at our indie publishing company but also the man I married in 1994. He is with me to this day, to my utter astonishment and delight. It's not easy loving, living, and working with the same person 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but it is and continues to be the richest, most personally rewarding relationship I could ever have imagined.

Speaking for myself, I try to share some of the very real "magic" in our daily relationship through the stories we write for our characters. it's not just in the romantic relationships -- though that's the most direct way to show it -- but also in the dynamics in the setting itself. Menelon lives and breathes as we speak and write the life into it; and it's a real pleasure to contemplate opening that world up to others to develop and populate for their story and fantasy game settings.

I like almost all music, and use custom play-lists extensively as I write. I like to read fantasy and science fiction. I also like Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Dorothy Parker, Jaquelyn Carey, Neil Gaiman, and Salman Rushdie. I HEART the San Francisco Giants. I like old documentaries on ancient history, anthropology, paleontology, and modern documentaries on most sciences, though I've only a lay person's appreciation of them. I've no religion with a name on it but am a student and explorer of all religions, including the ones I create for Menelon. I like to laugh, but not necessarily at anyone's expense. I like to make Michael laugh every chance I get.

I have two bio-sons and one bonus son, all grown men with lives and families of their own. I have a best friend, and we live much too far apart. She and I are avid counted cross stitchers with almost 70 years of experience in the gentle art between us. I also like to design charts, and have a side hustle dedicated to the bold, snarky, feminist sampler side of the hobby.

And if you hadn't already noticed, I am all about the Oxford comma.
