Wouter Montfrooij is a professor of physics at the University of Missouri. His research is all about cooling things down and figuring out why some materials exhibit rather strange behavior when they get very cold, such as liquids climbing out of glasses.
He greatly enjoys teaching introductory physics and astronomy courses, especially to non-science majors. He started the science outreach program 'Saturday Morning Science' (satscience.missouri.edu) where researchers share their findings with anyone who is interested in hearing about cutting-edge research free of jargon and equations.
