Jonathan McCormick writes of life as it is…and as it could be of female sleuths, enjoying fashion, cuisine & jazz, while investigating international crime.
He holds a B.A. M. Ed, & a Black Belt in Combat Martial Arts. He is a U.S Marine (Inactive), trained with famed CIA operative Rex Applegate.
McCormick studied with Royce Gracie of the infamous Gracie family and the Ultimate Fighter Challenges. Gracie Jiujitsu began in Brazil with Helio Gracie, Royce’s father, learning the art from the orient and customizing it to his needs for the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
He is a former member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers instructing Seattle Police officers and King County Sheriff’s deputies & has trained with the Canadian Military Police, Canada's RCMP and Victoria Po-lice Department.
McCormick is an associate member of the British Columbia Women in Law Enforcement.
He has written for law enforcement magazines Blue Line and Twenty-Four-Seven and has been a guest writer for the Vancouver Province.
McCormick penned a "Your Safety" column for the Vancouver Province newspaper in British Columbia. His columns Cariboo Safety and Rural Crime Watch appeared in various Black Press publications.
He wrote personal security articles for the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, B.C. Women and Maturity. He has written women’s self-defense pieces for Full Contact and Black Belt magazines.
McCormick has an associate of arts degree from Santa Monica College, California, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, elementary teaching endorsement from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree from the University of Alaska & the University of Portland.
He has studied at the British Columbia Justice Institute, is a member of the College of Teachers, with twenty years teaching children, adults and seniors.
