Gerhard Hoffstaedter

Dr Gerhard Hoffstaedter is a senior research fellow (DECRA) in Anthropology in the School of Social Science at the University of Queensland, researching religion, ethnicity and the state, international development and refugees in Southeast Asia.

He has recently published Modern Muslim Identities with NIAS Press and is the author of Religion and development: Australian Faith-Based Development Organisations. He has co-edited a volume on Human Security and Australian Foreign Policy with Allen&Unwin and one on urban refugees published by Routledge.

He is also course director for the social anthropology MOOC World101x: Anthropology of current world issues on the edX platform: www.world101x.org
