Gregory L. Nichols

Gregory L. Nichols was born in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1961 and attended North East High School. This is the home of the “Grapepickers”, the odd yet appropriate name for the high school’s mascot. He has earned academic degrees from the Moody Bible Institute, Wheaton College and the University of Wales. While studying in Wheaton under the direction of Mark Elliott he started researching the Pashkov Archives located in the Buswell library. This study eventually lead him to learn Russian and begin teaching at the Odessa Theological Seminary (Odessa, Ukraine). While in Odessa he had a passion to develop the next generation of pastors for the former Soviet Union. He completed his PhD under the supervision of Ian Randall and Keith Jones and was examined by David Bebbington. He now lives in Prague, Czech Republic with his wife and daughter and has an adult son living in Alaska. Based in Prague, he is involved with a number of schools including the International Baptist Theological Study Center. He is a member of the Euro-Asian Accreditation Association, the American Association of Church History, the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies and is involved with the International Conferences on Baptist Studies. He has published numerous articles on Ivan Kargel and Russian evangelicalism.
