Karen Gans

Karen earned her Masters degree in Early Childhood Development and has thirty-five years experience as an educator, counselor, and consultant working in mental health clinics, schools, and Head Start programs. She left her profession to accompany Larry on his geological adventures to forty different countries. Karen has been an instructor in several community colleges, and taught English in a remote Quechua village school in Bolivia where she also initiated a pen pal program between her Northwest home and the Quechua children.

Karen Gans resides with her husband, Larry Buchanan, in Ashland, Oregon, in the summers and during the colder months in Guanajuato, Mexico. They have four children and two grandchildren.
