Carroll Durham

Carroll Durham was born in 1948 in Sumter South Carolina. It just happened to be the year President Harry Truman integrated the armed forces of the United States. He served in Vietnam as a combat soldier during the height of the Vietnam war, which was from 1968 - 1969 when 30,000 American soldiers died in Vietnam. Carroll has a history of family members who served in the military from the Civil War, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. His display of heroism is unparalleled in his representation of his country,the United States of America.Carroll received 4 Bronze Stars and a host of other heroic medals.He received more Bronze Stars than a lot of the current Generals in the United States army including General Pratreaus. He served with honor and also paid a cost that almost cost him his life. His story is about the onset of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in a young soldier, which was him. He was diagnosed with PTSD in 1993. In 1999 he received citations from the state of Maryland for his heroism in Vietnam.
