Agatha Nolen

After my retirement from full-time healthcare practice in August 2020, I went through a period of informal discernment how I should spend my increased time. I've completed a Master of Divinity at Duke University in Durham, NC, M.Div. '25. In December 2025 I moved to Durham to volunteer as an assistant with the Anglican Episcopal House of Studies at Duke Divinity School and be an occasional teaching assistant for Anglican Episcopal coursework. I will start training to become a docent at the North Carolina Museum of Art in August 2026.

I've written three books. My first was a memoir Chasing My Father. Second was a short book of meditations, Reclaiming Time available as an ebook. My third book was published in July 2021, You are Loved: Praying with John (Contemplative Prayer using Anglican Prayer Beads). I am the senior editor on a new publication (June 2026) titled: Spirituality in Pharmacy Practice: Perspectives in Whole-Person Care with ASHP Publications. It will soon be available from Amazon.

I grew up in Geneseo, NY in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York and have been a hospital pharmacist since graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1977. I played varsity Golf on the inaugural Women's Golf team at OU, 1974-1976. I completed a Ph.D. in Public Administration at Tennessee State University in 2011 with a concentration in U.S. Health Policy.

I enjoy writing, art, photography, reading, golf, and conversation. I've been on mission trips to South Africa five times between 2007 and 2013, and have made pilgrimages to the Holy Land in November 2011, Greece and Turkey in 2014 and England in 2017. I revisited Greece and Turkey with Duke Divinity School in May 2025 for the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. My spiritual gifts are healing, evangelism, giving, exhortation and wisdom.

I have an enthusiastic heart in helping others to know Christ and fully use their spiritual gifts.
