Dennis Shaw

DENNIS SHAW was an award-winning sports journalist who also served five years as commercial manager of Birmingham City, carried out extensive PR writing for Aston Villa FC and wrote a detailed commercial brochure for Wembley Stadium. As a free-lance he wrote by-line material for several national newspaper, including The Times

On retirement from full-time reporting he was an award-winning Media Consultant for the Professional Golfers' Associations of Europe in the period when they became one of three partners in the Ryder Cup.

His work as an author began with two ghost-written books, for first Graham Taylor, when he became England team manager, and then 'Deadly' Doug Ellis when he was Villa chairman.

A GAME of THREE HALVES is a collection of readable anecdotes from his years in newspapers and football, some of them almost unbelievable but true, covering relationships with many iconic sporting individuals. The text also meanders, near the end, into the world of athletics and golf. Shaw was born and reared in inner-ring Birmingham and has never lived more than ten miles away from his birthplace near St. Andrew's football ground.

Not ready for his love of writing to end he is heading towards his nineties putting words on line for Sutton Coldfield Jazz Club, where he enjoys the music , some of it more than a century old.
