Antonio Lagares

Antonio Lagares was born in Utrera, Seville, in 1956, and has lived in San Fernando, Cádiz, since 1975. A versatile author, he has built a solid literary career in fiction, theatre, traditional Andalusian humour, and historical research.

His work is marked by intrigue, psychological tension, and human conflicts taken to their limits. Among his books are La Rastreadora, Obsesión, Viaje sin retorno, La sombra de la muerte, and The Return. Throughout his career, he has received several literary awards, including the “El Paisaje” Novel Prize for Crónica de una profecía, the Pandemia Award for Psychological Horror for La Rastreadora, and the Ibero-American “Las Cortes de Cádiz” Award for Cuarto de Cabales.

He has also written for the stage, with works such as El reloj sin tiempo, La maldición de los Stevenson, and La Trastienda, the latter performed in Montevideo, Uruguay. In the field of traditional Cádiz humour, he is the creator of the local characters Killo and Pisha, as well as the author of Diccionario del habla y expresiones de Cádiz según Killo y Pisha. In addition, he has explored historical research with Venta de Vargas: Una leyenda en el tiempo.
