Don McComber

I grew up in a tiny, tightly knit, thoroughly American town in Sheridan County Nebraska, where all the adults looked after the children as if they were their own. As a result, we grew up with a profound respect for our parents and community, while fostering a desire to explore the world. Nearly all the children of the era left the county and scattered with the wind. I was just another American boy, interested in sports, graduated as an engineer, married and had children and grandchildren, traveled the world with my work, read voraciously, and loved a good adventure. To this day, I love the wild spaces whether the prairie or the mountains. I like the insignificant and lonely feeling of a remote spot where there is no sign of humankind. My Father told me most of the family saga when I was young, and combined with a lifetime of adventures, this story, which is not about me, is the result.
