Rebecca Sutphen

REBECCA SUTPHEN, M.D. is a physician geneticist with broad expertise in the assessment and application of advanced genetic technologies and tests to predict, prevent, diagnose and manage a wide variety of common and rare health conditions. She graduated with highest honors from Temple Medical School where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and upon completing her residency and fellowship training became one of a handful of individuals to attain board certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Genetics, Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Rebecca developed and directed the Clinical Genetics program at the NCI-designated Moffitt Cancer Center for 12 years and has received numerous clinical awards and honors, including being named to "America's Top Doctors" and "Best Doctors in America". Rebecca is also an experienced researcher whose translational work at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine has been continuously funded over the past decade by the American Cancer Society, Department of Defense and National Institutes of Health, among others. She holds several patents based on her scientific work focused on personalized medicine - applying genomic, proteomic and other advanced technologies to identify factors associated with disease risk, prognosis, response to treatment and survival. Pursuing her passion for increasing access to genetics experts and personalized medicine, Rebecca co-founded and currently serves as President and Chief Medical Officer of InformedDNA, the countryıs largest provider network of board-certified genetics specialists providing services by telephone and the web to patients nationwide. Rebecca is also a passionate advocate for individuals and families facing hereditary cancer susceptibility, serving on the Board of Directors of the national nonprofit advocacy organization Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE). She is co-author of the recently released book Confronting Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer: Identify Your Risk, Understand Your Options, Change Your Destiny.
