In the 1970s, friends invited me on a short canoe trip that included a little fishing. I had a great time. That excursion was the beginning of a long term interest.
In the next thirty years, I found myself canoeing all over North America, including the Boundary Waters, the Allagash and Saint John Rivers in Maine, the Soper River on Baffin Island, the Leaf in Arctic Quebec, the Rupert River near James Bay in Quebec, and many other water systems.
I slowly developed a system for fishing on remote canoe trips. I wrote this book to condense my ideas into a handy how-to-book that may assist others in enjoying this fascinating activity.
When not canoeing, I made my living as a statistical programmer and analyst. Today, I am retired. I live in Vassalboro, Maine and am still actively exploring the north woods in an open canoe.
