Hanna Perlstein Marcus

Hanna Perlstein Marcus was born at the Bergen Belsen displaced persons camp in Germany after World War II and later immigrated to Springfield, Massachusetts with her mother, Sidonia. She holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts and the University of Connecticut and worked as a social worker in Connecticut for over thirty years. Since the launch of her first book, Sidonia's Thread, she has appeared at libraries, colleges, bookstores, religious organizations, community groups, and book clubs. Sidonia's Thread was a finalist for the Sarton Memoir Prize and a nominee for the Sophie Brody Medal as well as a semi-finalist for the BookLife Prize. She has two children and four granddaughters and lives in Connecticut.

Ms. Marcus' long experience as a social worker has informed her ability to tell the poignant tale of a mother and daughter shaped by oppression and loss and locked in a twisted combination of love and distrust.
