Patricia O'Rourke was an ombudsman for 30 years at
a McGill University teaching hospital. She has a PhD in comparative ethics and a Master's degree focused on truth-telling in the medical setting. She taught courses in ethics to McGill University education students and has lectured widely at conferences and in classrooms on patient relations, complaint management techniques, ethics and related topics. For the past 11 years she has been a member of the part-time faculty of Concordia University, Montreal, where she teaches undergraduate courses on the relationship between health, healing and religion.
