Jerry Heines

I always had an intense interest in academics and martial arts. In pursuit of these two areas, I received my PhD in Theoretical High Energy Particle Physics from the University of Connecticut (but not your typical nerd!). As a graduate student I pursued my intense interest in Martial Arts as well as Physics. Professionally I speak publically at public events where my talks are focused to help explain many of the esoteric principles of Physics so the public can appreciate the excitement we scientists share in the developing fields of Physics and Engineering. In my "free" time I visit and speak at universities to help guide students in the direction of exciting high tech careers. It is fun and exciting to speak at a venue of several hundred people in attendance, often with many questions. People by nature are explorers and as they begin to understand some of the basic concepts in advanced fields of technology they make the effort to pursue these areas in more depth.

As my hobby, I travel to Japan to continue to study their history, Jiu Jitsu and Zen. And my passion for martial study continues to grow daily. The thrill of learning more about oneself by practicing Jiu Jitsu is fascinating.
