Dr Filippos Proedrou is Lecturer in International Relations in City College, International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2009 he also joined DEI College, A Registered Centre of the University of London International Programs. He studied Journalism and Mass Media at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1998–2002), received his MA in International Relations from the University of Warwick, UK (2003), and was awarded his PhD on the EU–Russia energy approach from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2009. His research interests and published and forthcoming work focus on energy politics, global governance and cosmopolitan democracy, and public diplomacy. He is the author of the book EU Energy Security in the Gas Sector: Evolving Dynamics, Policy Dilemmas and Prospects (Ashgate, 2012) and co-author of the book The Democratization of Global Politics: An Introduction to Cosmopolitan Democracy (Sideris Editions 2010). Besides chapters in edited volumes in Greek, he has published articles in journals such as European Security, Journal of Contemporary European Studies, Studia Diplomatica – The Brussels Journal of International Relations and the Journal of Southeast European and Black Sea Studies.
