The book entitled "From Barbados to Banffshire" has been a "covid lockdown project" which has absorbed the author for the past three years as she researched her fascinating family history. This research initially took her round her mother's ancestral home area of the West Indies and Guyana with her husband Dave. These travels fuelled her enthusiasm to write the book.

Christine was born in 1943 in Guyana which in those colonial times was known as British Guiana. She is the second oldest in a family of five girls. The family relocated to her father's ancestral country of Scotland where Christine was brought up within the Aberdeenshire farming community. After qualifying in Social Work at Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, Aberdeen, Christine was employed by Aberdeenshire Council where she specialised in the field of fostering and adoption. After spending a career researching and reporting on the background of potential foster carers and adopters, Christine has used her skills to research and describe her own family history. This has proved to be rich in stories of slavery, racism, religion and living on a farm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Christine had three children with her first husband, Norman. Her oldest, and only son, David A.E.Murdoch died in 2008 (see next paragraph). Her two daughters and three grandchildren are a source of joy and support to her. She is now retired and lives in a country cottage not far from Aberdeen, happily married, with Dave (her second husband), and her cat.

I am also Christine Wilkie, mother of Poet and Author David A. E. Murdoch who died on 23rd November 2008. I am the owner of the copyright for the book and have been responsible for posthumously publishing my sons books.

His poetry covers a number of topics including Observations of life, Religion,Humour,Songs, Romance and family. The first topic entitled Introspectives covers his experience Bipolar Disorder from age 20 until his death by suicide at age 43 in 2008.The ebook Final Solution to the Problem of evil is more of a thesis on David’s outlook on life taking in his views gained while he attended Aberdeen University where he gained a Bachelor of Theology degree. I have edited and published his work posthumously and the proceeds from the sale of his books are being donated in his memory to the Charity Scottish Association of Mental Health. SAMH.
