Armando Pacheco Matos

Armando Pacheco Matos (1952- present) was born at Barrio San Antón, Ponce, Puerto Rico where he studied at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, Escuela Intermedia Central and Intermediate School Ismael Maldonado.

His family migrated to the Bronx, New York in 1967. He attended Morris HS in the South Bronx, City College of New York and Fordham University in New York. He was involved in the student movement for civil rights, human rights and bilingual education in the late 1960's and 1970's. He taught Spanish literature, coordinated various programs and activities for 30 years in the New York City Public Schools.

He has been recognized as a writer at City College of New York, Morris HS, James Monroe HS, People's Educators, El Maestro: Educational and Cultural Center in the Bronx New York, New York State Teacher's Association, National Congress for Puerto Rican Rights, and many other organizations.

Armando Pacheco Matos published the poetry book Padre Nuestro que te escondes en el cielo de San Antón al Bronx (1990), the bilingual biography of Dr. Ramón Emeterio Betances Alacán: Father of the Puerto Rican Motherland / Biografía del Dr. Ramón Emeterio Betances Alacán: Padre de la Patria Puertorriqueña (1998), the novel Jesús Pedro del Campo Montes: La Conciencia de Puerto Rico Asesinada (2004), the bilingual novel The Conscience of Puerto Rico (La Conciencia de Puerto Rico) (Bilingual Edition 2012), the bilingual poetry book Love, Motherland, Liberty: Poems, houghts, and Songs / Amor, Patria, Libertad: Poemas, Pensamientos y Canciones (Edición Bilingüe 2012)

He founded several community organizations in New York. In Puerto Rico he founded Cabanas El Rucio Inc, and Acueducto Comunal del Barrio Rucio Inc., Patria y Cultura Inc, the radio program Bomba Plena y Mucho Más con Maddy y Tony and Centro Comunal y Cultural del Barrio San Antón de Ponce. His mission in live is to empower the humble people of the world.
