Simon Pierse is Senior Lecturer Emeritus at Aberystwyth University and author of Australian Art and Artists in London 1950-1965: an Antipodean Summer, published by Ashgate in 2012. Simon Pierse has written extensively on British postwar art and the Australian creative diaspora to London. He was a Sir Robert Menzies Bicentennial Fellow in 2000-1, based at La Trobe University. He returned to Australia in 2014 as visiting fellow at the Australian Institute of Art History, University of Melbourne. Other publications include contributions to Figure and Ground: Keith Vaughan Drawings, Prints and Photographs 1935-1962 (Sansom, 2012), Impact of the Modern: Vernacular Australian Modernities in Australia 1870s-1960s (SUP, 2008), the Melbourne Art Journal and Australian Dictionary of Biography. Alannah Coleman: A Life in Art (Australian Scholarly Publishing, 2022) is his first biography.
