Christy Smith is a dedicated wife, mother of two, and grandmother of five precious grandchildren. Smith lives in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, where she assists the leader with her weekly Bible study group. Christy and her husband, Jerry, of almost 50 years, are involved in the senior group at Christ First, their home church. Jerry stepped into the role of President of the Mid-Day Seniors when Christy decided to retire from the position. Now she serves in other capacities at her church.
They have five grown grandchildren, ranging in age from 20 to 27. What a blessing they are! Christy and her husband, Jerry, play an active part in their grandchildren’s lives. Since she retired from her job as an Executive Assistant in 2007, she has had more time to spend with the family and pursue her writing career.
Christy is a Meniereian, which is a fancy way of saying she has Meniere’s Disease. Meniere’s is an imbalance of the fluid in your ear. It causes severe dizziness or vertigo, ringing in the ears, or tinnitus. Hearing can be lost with each episode or attack that you have. It affects balance, hearing, and most of the systems in your body. When you have an attack, it can last from minutes to days; there is no way of telling. She calls herself a Meniere’s Warrior instead of a Sufferer. She does everything in her power to fight Meniere’s, including writing about it.
Christy's passion is writing and editing. She is the Barefoot Editor you’ve seen on the internet. Christy writes historical fiction and mystery novels. Currently, in 2026, she is working hard on her first mystery. The working title is “It’s All in the Bloodlines, Life isn't About How to Survive the Storm, but How to Dance in the Rain.”
Christy is also working on the sequel to “Forever and Always”. The working title for it is “Journey to Forever.” And the last manuscript in the works now is “In The Spin Cycle – My Life and War with Meniere’s” It will describe her life with Meniere’s Disease, which she hopes will inspire others.
Christy loves the Lord, loves to laugh, and be with His people. For Christy, there is nothing she would rather do than serve her Savior! Immersion is not just for baptism for Christy. It’s for everything in the Kingdom.
