Charles E. Cabler

Charles retired in 2009 after a forty-three-year career in the financial services industry. His specialty was regulatory lending compliance and compliance risk management and was awarded the CRCM and CRP certifications. During his career, he conducted training seminars, workshops, and schools for the Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi and Michigan State Banking Associations, and was a frequent speaker at the American Bankers Association's and Bankers Administrative Institute's national compliance and audit conferences and seminars. He was a Director, Board Member and Instructor for the Alabama Bankers Association's Regulatory Compliance Institute and served as a member of several state compliance and credit committees, and national trade association advisory boards.

He participated in the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank's HMDA Conference and served as an instructor for the San Francisco and Dallas Federal Reserve Bank's CCRS Training Programs. As a subject matter expert, Charles provided a banking compliance perspective to the General Accountability Office (GAO) and the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) as they gathered data to consider revisions to banking laws and regulations.

Charles is a graduate of the University of South Alabama's- Alabama Banking School, the National Compliance and the National Graduate Compliance Schools at the University of Oklahoma. He is a former faculty member of the National Graduate School of Compliance Management at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis.

He has written and published four business genre books including a book dedicated to young people just entering the business environment. Charles has also written compliance articles published in national and state trade association magazines including the: Compliance Action Newsletter; the American Bankers Association's Bank Compliance Magazine; the ABA Banking Journal; the South Carolina Palmetto Banker Magazine; the Sheshunoff Bank Operations & Technology Newsletter; the Alabama Banker Magazine; and the Alabama Bankers Compliance Corner.

Charles served in the United States Air Force 1962-1968 in the Air Police Law Enforcement and Security section receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. He continues to support the Armed Forces through his membership in the American Legion, the USAF Police Alumni Association, and as a volunteer advisor for American Corporate Partners, assisting service members in their transition from the military into a civilian job.

From 2016 through 2019, Charles was volunteer teacher for two youth career development programs: Launch® sponsored by the Florence, Alabama High School, and 12 For Life®. sponsored by the Southwire Company. Using his banking background and experience he provided these students a look into the business world before they graduate.

Charles remains active in writing and facilitating Job Search and Career Transition Workshops.
