Shaun J. McLaughlin

Shaun J. McLaughlin has authored fiction and non-fiction books, using both a traditional publisher and self-publishing. He maintains a publishing blog and history blogs on the 1838 Patriot War and Bill Johnston, the Thousand Islands legend.

All Shaun's books are available from multiple sources. Amazon.com and Goodread's have numerous reviews.

His first novel, Counter Currents, won the 2013 silver medal for Historical Literature Fiction-Modern (set 1500-1940 AD) awarded by Dan Poynter's Global Ebook Awards. The sequel, Dark Southern Sun, is a story of love, honor and friendship in the gold fields of old Australia.

His two-part series on the Patriot War, published by The History Press (now Arcadia), documents a little known border war between British colonial Canada and the United States.

Shaun's most recent foray is a biography of "Pirate" Bill Johnston, due out sometime this year.

A researcher, journalist and technical writer for over thirty years, with a master's degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Shaun lives on a hobby farm in Eastern Ontario. Now a semi-retired, he focuses on fiction and nonfiction writing projects.
