KELLY STANDING

Author, Motivational Speaker and Executive Coach

You might not want to stand too close to Kelly.

Kelly Standing has been hit by a car, struck by lightning, and hanged from a tree. Completely unrelated, she had a major organ removed. … It grew back! With 48 hours to live, at the age of 29, doctors told her to say goodbye to her three-year-old daughter. Kelly went into the light, came back out and lived to tell about it. And tell about it she does in her new book, along with the stories of her many brushes with death and what those experiences have taught her about life and living.

"I’m Still Standing: How One Woman’s Brushes with Death Taught Her How To Live" is a funny, honest, moving memoir of growing up in a stable, loving family but still finding herself oddly living on the edge of danger in the 60s and 70s (available on Amazon.com and imstillstandingbook.com).

When she hasn’t been facing down death and disaster, Kelly has spent her time as a speechwriter and presentation coach helping America’s top executives and even a few celebrities make great impressions when giving speeches or even making small talk. In addition, Kelly has enjoyed extraordinary success as a speaker herself, earning standing ovations from corporate, association and nonprofit audiences and ranking among the top nine speakers in the world out of 25,000 contestants and 180,000 Toastmasters in the 2001 World Championship of Public Speaking.

Kelly has helped executives find their authentic voices in a broad range of industries: healthcare, financial services, agriculture, oil & gas refining and marketing, restaurants, consumer foods, real estate and retail. Kelly helps individuals and organizations go deeper, to consider and craft the legacies they hope to leave.

Kelly grew up in St. Louis and is based in Chicago, where she runs her company STANDING Media. She travels the country for speaking engagements and book-signings. Standing Media works with organizations that want their people to rally around change and adversity, so they can blow the doors off every goal they set.
