Born in Manchester, England on 5th July 1947, James Harold Dalton Steele has been writing poetry ever since his late teens and had several poems published in the 1970's. One of his poems, 'Sarajevo Child Spirit of Innocence' was highly commended by The Poetry Society. His two current poetry books are, 'A Mindful of Rhyme', which contains poems James has written for over 50 years, and 'Forever Yours', a book of love poems James has written to his wife, Elaine, since first meeting and falling in love with her, way back in 1967. James has lived in the Flixton, Davyhulme and Urmston area all his life. Due to his love of all things science fiction, James went on to write his first science fiction novel, 'The Great Divide,' as part of a planned, 'Cosmic Cell Series,' and started writing his second novel in the series early in 2012. Before retiring, James was a part time director of BodyWyze in Urmston, a successful health and beauty company. Previously, until his forced semi-retirement, due to back problems, had a varied career, which included trainee wholesale manager within the wine trade, a carpenter in the exhibition industry, a chemical buyer for P&G, a major industrial company, and, after taking a diploma course in computer building and repairs, became a computer engineer with his own company, 'Computerfix'. Unfortunately his back problems never went away and having had three major operations on his spine, James had to give up his return to working full time, but continued his part time directorship position, within the health and beauty business he and his wife had created, now partly owned by his daughter Karen. Now, fully retired, James continues to write both poetry and other novels in his science fiction series, and his 2nd book in the Cosmic Cell Series, 'GridWorld,' is also on Amazon Kindle and in paperback form originally published on 20th January 2016. After a break in his writing, James started, and finished, his third novel in the current Cosmic Cell series. In this latest book, he's branched out into the fantasy genre with 'Demon Orb, Part 1, Sen's journey', which combines science fiction, fantasy, and magic, to thrill his readers. He will shortly be writing his 4th novel and the sequel to Demon Orb, hopefully to be published at the end of 2022 or beginning of 2023.
James' other interests include, in no particular order, swimming and snorkeling, holidays, computers and technology, family, playing blues and folk guitar, reading, health and fitness, and wood carving. In his distant past James had a short spell in the 12th/13th battalion of the territorial parachute regiment, enjoyed SCUBA diving with the B,S,A,C Manchester, and Martial Arts.
