Lionel Suggs (1989-current) was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to a single African American mother. He grew up around the East Coast, constantly moving throughout his life. Since a young age, he has always had an extremely vast Imagination. In the eighth grade, he wrote his first amateur book. He wrote poetry for a while, and even submitted some of his writings to a school newspaper. In 2010, his own titles started being published -- the Heir to the Stars series, and the Glory of the Defeated series. The plot is very expansive, carrying on through several different titled works. Recently, he has started on three new series called Solecism, Guidepost to Tomorrow, and The Final Story.
Lionel has a very unique style of writing, one that diverges off of mainstream literature. His stories are written for the reader to truly escape reality, thus eliminating the ability for one to relate to such characters. With his work, he uses Imagination in its purest sense. He provides meaning to other worldly experiences and understanding to knowledge; the reality behind truth. Imagination is a fundamental principle through which people make sense of the world. His work is not just about making sense of the world, but all worlds, which is demonstrated with his stories. To him, Imagination is a key fundamental for learning, and he wants his stories to not only illuminate that meaning, but define it as well. With his titles, he introduces a different breed of story, truly taking the reader into impossible worlds with an unlimited Imagination.
"People won't see Imagination in something that doesn't relate to their experience because of their own mental limitations. I want people to escape the expected and ordinary, to escape the regular expectations of a story, and truly step into a different world of literature."
