Paula's life revolves around nature and travel. She lives in New South Wales, Australia, with a dog who is passionate about sticks. When not writing, Paula loves exploring the countryside and reading.
Paula has traveled in more than sixty countries on six continents - only Antarctica to go! She has been an avid horse-lover since she learned to ride at age nine. She has competed in many horse disciplines, caught and broken in brumbies (the wild horses of Australia), and mustered on remote cattle stations. She loves to write about the less known or less loved animals of Australia such as crocodiles, spiders, thorny devils and pot-bellied seahorses.
Her debut novel, The Okapi Promise, was released in December 2010 and is based on Paula's experiences in Africa in 1990 when she crossed the continent in an old Bedford truck, encountering gorillas, civil war and a lot of mud.
Having always been a horse lover, Paula wrote the best-selling Brumbies series (middle grade novels), where two teenage Australians save the wild horses of the Snowy Mountains.
Paula's latest fiction is a horse fantasy trilogy, The Equinora Chronicles, complete with unicorns and dragons. Book 1 The Bloodwolf War and book 2 The Stealthcat War are already released, with the final The Harbinger of Death scheduled for release late 2022.
Since the devastating bushfires in Australia in Jan 2020, Paula has collated her observations into a non-fiction book, Bushfire Recovery at Badja, showing the remarkable resilience of nature on her property with over 1,300 photographs covering 400+ species.
