Lisa Smith

Lisa Smith is an English professor at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, teaching classes in early American literature, gender and spirituality, and spiritual writing. Her books include a new book titled This is My Beloved: Embracing the Bridal Love of Jesus, which uses Song of Songs and the life stories and writings of early American Christians to simplify and explain how believers can awaken their affections and satisfy some of their deepest desires by encountering profound intimacy and delightful friendship as the bride of Jesus. Lisa's other books include Hammer & Fire: Lessons on Spiritual Passion from the Writings and Life of George Whitefield, Godly Character(s): Insights for Spiritual Passion from the Lives of 8 Women in the Bible, and The First Great Awakening in Colonial American Newspapers: A Shifting Story.
