Brian Whyte

Brian is a Scottish author who was born in Cowdenbeath, schooled in Cumbernauld, worked in Aberdeen and is now retired in Perth.

On leaving school, Brian worked as a clerk in the Royal Bank of Scotland before joining Grampian Fire Brigade. During this time he contributed articles to various magazines and newsletters. He created a whole host of materials while engaged in community safety, and ventured out into cartoons, scripting two issues of 'The Broons and Oor Wullie' fire safety specials, and also wrote and drew 'The Hills and Glenns' which was featured in a monthly magazine distributed to schools across Scotland. In 2005, Brian was awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal in recognition of his work in community safety.

On retiring from the fire brigade, Brian worked part time in market research and began to expand his horizons into creating books. He has been involved with hospital radio for the past forty years, and has hosted many quiz nights and charity events. He aslo volunteers at his local PDSA shop and is Chairman of Perth Highland Games.
