Tom Nelson lives on a small farm in Central Ohio with his wife, Carolyn, and his horses. His pursuit of "real" locations for his writing has taken him to Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, and Italy. At home, Tom’s pursuits include tennis, biking, horseback riding, and archery. He draws inspiration for his books from reading classic literature by authors such as Leo Tolstoy, Fedor Dostoyevsky, Ivan Turgenev, Guy De Maupassant, Victor Hugo, and Joseph Conrad. Tom feels that the Middle Ages, the historical period for his books, is largely misunderstood. Rather than a “Dark Age” in which very little progress was made, Tom instead sees it as a time where the underpinnings of modern Europe were put into place. Regardless of how we view the times, Tom enjoys bringing to life the people who lived in them. If you would like to contact Tom, you can reach him at tnauthor52@gmail.com
