Bobbye has been published as a non-fiction writer since 1994, but it is writing fiction that has always had her heart. She is a true Gemini, easily distracted by, oh look, a turtle, shiny things. She writes best when she has several projects going at once. Better still when they are in totally different genres.
From a recent interview: "I enjoy writing about strong women. Especially Southern women. My first novel, Behind the Grey, features a young Southern belle who dons a uniform and disguised as a man enters battle after battle for reasons that may vary, but always with an unwavering resolve. At the same time Alexandria the soldier was marching towards her destiny, another story unfolded on my computer screen starring a female mayor of a small Alabama town who decides to try her hand at internet dating to avoid the prying eyes of her friends and neighbors. With disastrous results (Hot Bubbles and Chocolate, available soon). Before either of those stories had reached The End, a middle-aged female owner of a New Age shop in Birmingham realized there was more to her wares than she imagined and my first paranormal story was born (The Girl in the Mirror, available by the end of 2020 I hope).
There's a little bit of me in every character I create. And a lot of who I would like to be. Somewhere in the middle is who I really am. Just a "li'l ole Southern gal," whose happiest moments are found sitting on my porch watching my dachshund cavorting under the trees along my creek. After two bouts with cancer and a clean bill of health, I realized who I wanted to be when I grow up. What I have always been. A writer. Hi, my name is Bobbye. And, I am a spinner of Southern tales. (And the occasional nonfiction title to pay the internet bill and buy dog food.)
