Daren Dean

Daren Dean is the author of several books, including Far Beyond the Pale, I'll Still Be Here Long After You're Gone (Cowboy Jamboree Press), The Black Harvest: A Novel of the American Civil War (UWA, Livingston Press), This Vale of Tears (CJ Press), Roads (CJ Press), The New Salvation and Other Stories (CJ Press), the prose chapbook Lovesick (Louisiana Literature Press), and the novel Shelter Me (UWA, Livingston Press).

He earned his MFA from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His work has been nominated for the PEN/Faulkner Award, the W.Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction, and the Society of Midland Authors Award, and was shortlisted for the Missouri Author Award. Roads received a featured review in Kirkus Reviews and was named a Top 25 Indie Book by the Independent Fiction Alliance. His writings have appeared in HuffPost, Ploughshares (online), Ecotone, Bull, Chiron Review, Louisiana Literature, Maryland Literary Review, Midwestern Gothic, Oklahoma Review, and storySouth, among others. He lives in Jefferson City, Missouri, with his wife and family.
