Roddy Scheer

Roddy Scheer is a journalist and photographer specializing in nature, the outdoors, environmental issues and travel. His author credits include: Hiking Waterfalls Washington: A Guide to the State’s Best Waterfall Hikes (2nd Edition, Falcon Guides, 2019), Hiking Southern California: A Guide to Southern California's Greatest Hiking Adventures (Revised original book by Ron Adkison, Falcon Guides, 2019), EarthTalk: Expert Answers to Everyday Questions About the Environment (2009, Plume) and Mt. St. Helens: The Continuing Story (KC Publications, 2005).

His book Oregon and Washington's Roadside Ecology: 33 Easy Walks Through the Region’s Amazing Natural Areas comes out in March 2022, while he researchers another forthcoming title in the Timber Press "roadside ecology" series on Yellowstone National Park (look for that in 2023).

He has served as contributing editor at E - The Environmental Magazine and Seattle Magazine, and has contributed to a wide range of other publications including Northwest Travel, American Photo, PhotoMedia, Wildflower, and Seattle Business Monthly. He also serves as Executive Director and Editor of EarthTalk, a weekly environmental Q&A column syndicated to 600+ media outlets across North America.

Meanwhile, his stock photography collection of iconic Northwest nature and wildlife subjects includes more than 10,000 images and is represented by the Danita Delimont Agency, while his fine art prints have been featured in three solo exhibitions and are for sale directly via his website and through a handful of galleries.
