James Joseph Jacks

As a pilot and later an aviation executive I found little time to wonder about my ancestors. Upon retirement, for the first time in my life, there was an opportunity to learn who these Jacks forefathers were. After devoting almost 18 months to in-depth research I published My Father's Fathers, a truly amazing saga which leads from England to the American Colonies in the mid-1660s, on through the American Revolution, the great westward population migrations, and the Civil War. Throughout this westward migration, our Jacks ancestors left their mark and their name in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas. Ours is the story of bold frontier men and the women they married. From a stowaway coming to the American colonies onboard an English ship, to ox carts and covered wagons, the Jacks clan was on the leading edge as people moved westward in search of a better life.
