CHUCK CARLISE was born in Canton, Ohio, and has lived on two continents and in a baker's dozen states.
He is the author of In One Version of the Story (New Issues 2016), about which Publisher's Weekly recently wrote, "In this haunting debut... Carlise builds a tender world from his obsessions…” He is also author of two award-winning chapbooks, A Broken Escalator Still Isn't the Stairs (Concrete Wolf Poetry Series) and Casual Insomniac (Bateau, "Boom Contest" winner). His poems and essays appear in Southern Review, Pleiades, DIAGRAM, and the Best New Poets anthologies in both 2012 and 2014.
After finishing school at the University of Houston, he taught in the UC-Santa Cruz Writing Program, as well as brief stints in Columbia, MO and Grand Rapids, MI. Currently he lives in Cleveland, Ohio, and serves as Assistant Professor of English at Ashland University and director of the Ashland Poetry Press.
