Dr. Emad Rahim is an award-winning author, educator, entrepreneur, Fulbright Scholar and TEDx Speaker. He currently serves as the Kotouc Endowed Chair and Associate Professor at Bellevue University and Training Consultant at Cornell University.
Rahim's rise to success, amidst nearly insurmountable odds, is a living example of perseverance. As a Khmer American, he survived the Killing Fields of Cambodia and was raised as a refugee on the streets of Brooklyn, New York. During that time he was shot during a drug deal gone wrong, stabbed during a gang fight and victimized by an abusive stepfather. Today Rahim is a dynamic educator, higher education administrator and business leader. He has been mentioned in U.S. News & World Report, NY Post, Forbes, Washington Post and Boston Magazine and featured in the Huffington Post, CEO Magazine and Worldclass Magazine
Rahim earned a Post-Doctorate Diploma from Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, Post-Doctorate Certificate from Harvard Graduate School of Education (MLE Fellow), Doctorate of Management in Organizational Development and two graduate degrees in Project Management and Business Management from Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs. He was named the 2011 Beyster Scholar Fellow from the Beyster Institute at UC San Diego, 2011 Kauffman Fellow from the Kauffman Foundation and was the recipient of the 2010 Entrepreneurship Teaching Excellence Award from the Experiential Classroom at Oklahoma State University.
Rahim's diverse cultural background was made into a theater play, written and directed by USA Playwrights Award Recipient and nationally acclaimed Director, Ping Chong. The Syracuse Stage Theatre production titled "Tales From The Salt City" shared the migration stories of seven local residents from Syracuse NY. The stories covered topics of diversity, discrimination, stereotypes, prejudice and overcoming adversities and was a finalist for the Syracuse SALT award The script was published in Syracuse University's award-winning arts journal Stone Canoe.
Rahim has taught for the Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University, SUNY Morrisville State College, Florida Institute of Technology, Oklahoma State University, Colorado Technical University, Walden University, Kaplan University, Keuka College, and SUNY Empire State College and has lectured at Syracuse University, Cornell University, Colgate University, Cazenovia College and Hobart & William Smith Colleges. He served as the former Dean of Business at Colorado Technical University, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Oklahoma State University and Director of Venture Connect at SUNY Morrisville State College. His research received special scholastic recognition from Fort Hays State University's Business and Leadership Symposium and Intellectbase International Consortium. He has also been invited to present his research at academic and professional conferences, national and international.
In 2013 Rahim was recognized for his contribution to the entrepreneurship ecosystem at the United Nations Headquarters as an Empact Honoree and in 2012 he was invited to attend the Empact Summit at the White House and US Chambers of Commerce in Washington DC. In 2014 he was accepted to attend and speak at the invite only Ashoka U Exchange Summit that was hosted by Brown University. He has been invited to keynote at events and programs sponsored by McGraw-Hill Education, Southwest University, Colorado Technical University, University of the Pacific, Syracuse University, Cornell University and SUNY Institutions.
Rahim was the recipient of the 2011 Forty Under 40 Award of Syracuse NY, named the 2011 Certified Manager of the Year from ICPM at James Madison University, a Congressional Award for community service, , Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year from the Experiential Classroom of Oklahoma State University and was a finalist for the CEC Educator of the Year Award.
He co-authored the book Leading through Diversity: Transforming Managers into Effective Leaders, Foundations of Social Responsibility and Its Application to Change, The 4-Tions: Your Guide to Developing Successful Job Search Strategies and contributed chapters to the award-winning book series The Refractive Thinker.
