If you have read any of my books, then I really hope that you have enjoyed them.

Writing came late to me and it was due to getting PTSD as a Police Officer. I was on sick leave and feeling bad when I started to read… a lot. My clinical psychologist said that as my brain was busy reading it was not concentrating on my problems. In fact, she said that it was healing itself. My husband bought me a second-hand laptop so I decided that I would write a couple of small stories, which I did, but deleted them immediately. I then started to write another which was about a Woman Police Officer and it eventually turned from a short story into a book. This was purely for me and not for general reading. My psychologist told me what I was doing was making me better and eventually, after a year, I did recover, but there were side effects, so I decided to retire from the police force. I had been a police officer for 25 years by then and I realised that I could live comfortably on my pension and I always wanted to go to university, so I did, studying psychology.

I only write during the autumn and winter and I get them onto Kindle once they are edited and reviewed, which is usually within a couple month of me completing them.

To date I have written 15 books and they are about different things, not just about the police, which surprised me. I like the era around World War II, and I have written three books in that time period. Ironically, a couple of years ago I wrote about a pandemic that killed the human population and how the survivors managed to cope and live under horrendous conditions. My husband said that although the story was good, he thought that this would never happen in real life, and it was pure fiction!

You will also find that I put dogs into my books. I have had Border collie dogs for many years and when I was younger, I did dog agility with them. I find dogs are so faithful and loyal. I put them into my books as I want my readers to know how I feel and to know that if you love them, they will show that love back thrice fold.

Some of my books are based in Southern England. I live there and I know the area, so I use that knowledge and try to make things as authentic as possible. The one book that is not based in Southern England is based in Wales and that is because my daughter bought a cottage there and I discovered the peace and quiet of the place. The views that I experienced are superb and I wanted people to share them, all be it in print.

I have written my books under the name Jennifer M Carr, but I also write under J M Carr. So, if you do a web search try both.

My daughter persuaded me to get this website and put all my books on it. (jennifermcarr.co.uk) If you look at it I hope that you will enjoy it and I will keep it updated about my books and any new ones with possible dates of their release.
