Most aspiring writers hear from others who have gone before them that they should write what they know. After nearly 30 years of searching for her niche, Cheryl Denton realized that she had become an expert on living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Through her own struggles to overcome the pain of childhood abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, a motor vehicle accident, and a stalking, she began writing about overcoming challenges and re-discovering joy.
She wrote the first mystery in The Darkfire Series, Among the Ashes, to give readers a glimpse into the mind of a person suffering from PTSD. When Hope Was Gone reveals the challenges of parenting a child with PTSD. The third suspense novel in the series, Losing Faith, portrays a woman who develops PTSD when a stalker terrorizes her.
Cheryl Denton's Spiritual Growth Series gently guides survivors away from dysfunction to a peaceful place where they can feel fully alive again in God's love. Through her blog for survivors of abuse and trauma, Cheryl Denton has contributed much-needed emotional support and information to readers around the globe.
In spite of the trials she has encountered, Cheryl Denton has never given up hope. With a smile and words of encouragement, she leads others to find ways to thrive. She and her husband, Chaplain Joe Denton, lead Humor for Healing Workshops to help people recover their joy through clowning, laughter, dancing, singing, and games.
Cheryl Denton is a graduate of the University of Michigan, as well as the University of Central Florida, holding bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Over the years, she has supported survivors through her work as a Stephen Minister, teacher, magazine editor, and book editor.
