Birnur Özbaş was born in 1980 in Istanbul, Turkey. She received her B.S. degree in Systems Engineering from Yeditepe University in Istanbul. In 2003, she started her graduate studies in Industrial Engineering department at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and also worked as a research and teaching assistant. She got her PhD degree by 2010 and worked as a post doctoral associate at Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and Center for Advance Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) of Rutgers University, NJ, USA. Currently she is the program director of Laboratory for Port Logistics and Security at CAIT.
Birnur Özbaş has an expertise on simulation modelling, statistical data analysis, and mathematical modeling and has been involved in various application projects on transportation systems and risk analysis and management.
