Having started and run three companies, including one that made Inc. magazine’s list of fastest growing companies in America in 1992, Mel Laurila has lived the entrepreneurial experience of turning a dream into reality. A graduate of Michigan Technological University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in metallurgical engineering, he is very familiar with the mines in Michigan’s Copper Country.
Mel Laurila has published a textbook, The Sampling of Coal, and has written over one hundred articles and technical papers during his thirty-plus years in the mining business. He continues to consult with major mining equipment suppliers.
Mel and his wife, Anna, reside in Georgetown, Kentucky, and Republic, Michigan.
