Jackie White

Jackie White graduated in German from the University of Exeter in 1983. This was the start of a twenty-seven year journey that was to end with the writing of a book on one of the most controversial hard rock bands to emerge from Germany in the 1990s: Rammstein.

Jackie had a successful stint in the Royal Air Force that included interpreting for NATO, before working as a Training Consultant in the motor industry. She's now Curriculum Manager at the Henry Ford Academy, for Ford Motor Company, working in Daventry. In recent years she found that she was using her German less and less, yet longed for a project to keep involved with the language.

Jackie explains, "I found Lindemann's lyrics interesting, and wanted to share their original rhyme with a wider audience. I wrote a book that explained about German history & language and translated key songs, so fans would not miss out."

Jackie has just completed her 2nd book, 'Raining Cats and Dogs', which shares over 400 English sayings that are difficult to translate into German e.g. garbage in garbage out, face the music, flog a dead horse and I'll eat my hat. Designed as a reference book for those either learning German, or with a good overall knowledge, who want to improve their understanding.
