I was born and raised in a small, rural town situated along the banks of the Ohio River. My loving husband and five children help me find my inner warmth and perfect it into a creative playland for children on paper. Small town upbringing and family roots instilled values and morals that I have woven into each of my stories.
After the tragic loss of my sister in 1999, My husband and I opened our home and hearts to her only son. It wasn't a hard decision to say the least but I wasn't prepared for all the questions during this overwhelming time of grief. At that time, he was only 6 years old and so scared. He had many unanswered questions about his loss. While talking with him, I found that I was the most uncomfortable about death. He was innocent and unsure why all the sadness when being told of the great life that lies beyond our earthly world. One night, I sat and wrote "Where Did Mommy Go?" to address all the misguided answers that I was throwing at him. Through my avoidance, I was adding to his sadness and confusion but I knew my heartwarming story would make things all better. It did! Today, he is thriving in college and doing very well. I have to say that I am honored to have him as a son. He has blessed me more than I could ever be a blessing to him. I praise God for giving me this story to help calm the storm not only in our lives but everyone else who owns it.
This was a story that needed to be written.
Please share if you know someone in need.
God bless!
