Patti Blystone

Patti Blystone was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. From the age of 6, she knew she wanted to be a teacher. Though she is now retired, she still substitutes on occasion. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, owner of a small Sign and Design business, a volunteer and a lover of life.

Patti and Rose were teacher friends for over thirty years and would get together during the Christmas holidays to fix their favorite desserts and give them away. Many of the recipes they fixed are in the Christmas section of the book or in Specials from the Heart.

Rose and Patti decided to do a cookbook together and begin working on it in 1987. They carried around their favorite basket, full of recipes and two years later they had a finished book.

Every page is hand printed and illustrated by the two of them. Divider pages are a collection of special thoughts and sayings collected over many years.

They enjoyed meeting wonderful people and also were fortunate to see many of their former students at book signings, which they did to promote the book. They were even County Fair Judges for the Dessert Section tasting EVERY entree submitted....which was very hard to do!!!! Those were special times.

Desserts First Cookbook is dedicated in memory of Rose, who passed away a few years ago from cancer. Rose loved animals, which is why 10% of the proceeds from every book sold will be donated to her local SPCA.
