Eleanor M. Rawling

Eleanor Rawling is a geographer, researcher and writer. She is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford (see http://www.education.ox.ac.uk/about-us/directory/eleanor-rawling/). After a long career in geography education including working in the Universities of London and Oxford, being President of the Geographical Association and being awarded MBE (2005), Eleanor has decided to focus directly on literary geography and writing about place. Her study of the relationship between poetry and place, 'Ivor Gurney’s Gloucestershire: exploring poetry and place', draws on her passion for her native Gloucestershire and her interest in the relationship between ‘real’ landscapes and landscapes of the mind. She intends to undertake further writing about landscape, walking, literature and poetry and also to maintain her research interests in these areas through her membership of the Geography Education Research Collective (GEReCo - http://www.geography.org.uk/gtip/gereco/). She is a keen walker, fell runner and, when opportunity allows, a mountain climber.
