Shankar Kashyap

Shankar Kashyap is a retired Orthopaedic Surgeon based in the UK whose lifelong passion for ancient history, literature, and poetry has shaped a remarkable second career as an acclaimed author.

His debut novel, A Kangaroo Court (2011), marked the beginning of a diverse literary journey. Since then, he has published numerous works across genres, including the Harappa Trilogy—a sweeping historical fiction series inspired by the Harappan civilisation and the Rigveda—and The Retribution, a gripping crime thriller based on a true story. Notably, Dasharajna (the third book of the Harappa Trilogy) and The Retribution have been signed by Bollywood producers for adaptation into television and cinema.

Shankar’s love for poetry has produced several celebrated collections. His first, A Lady in Red, explored the timeless theme of love. This was followed by Mehfil-e-Ghazal, Eternal Echoes, and his latest, Silent Lyre, a haunting collection of ballads. His ambitious compendium, Musings of a Romantic, showcases over 100 poetic forms, serving as a mini-encyclopaedia of verse.

Across his novels and poetry, Shankar blends historical depth with lyrical resonance, reviving ancient traditions while speaking to modern readers. His work reflects both the precision of a surgeon and the soul of a bard, leaving a legacy of stories that inspire, haunt, and endure.
